David Powers is the founder of Powers Compliance, PLLC where he provides strategic legal advice to corporations, nonprofit entities, trade associations, candidates and Super PACs, on federal and state lobbying, ethics, nonprofit, and campaign finance issues.

He has previously served as in-house counsel to both a national nonprofit organization and to the Republican National Committee, and clerked on the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit for Senior Judge Emmett Ripley Cox. He began his legal career at WilmerHale, where his practice focused on government investigations and securities enforcement matters.
David graduated from the University of Alabama School of Law summa cum laude, where he was a managing board member of the Alabama Law Review and was selected for the Order of the Coif. David is licensed in the District of Columbia.
